Single-Cylinder PLA Air Engine (Bambu Lab A1 mini)
Print Profile(1)

Description
A compact, single-cylinder pneumatic engine designed for reliable
first-run success on a Bambu Lab A1 mini. Print in PLA, assemble with
common hardware, and run it from almost any handy air source.
Power options
• Runs well with balloon, lung, or air duster power — use what you
have on hand
• Balloon — gentle, kid-friendly for demos and desk toys
• Lung power — handy for quick tests (use clean tubing)
• Air duster — will run very fast
Design highlights
• Sliding intake/exhaust valve — simple timing, easy to inspect
• Beveled exhaust port — helps spent air exit cleanly and reduces
sputter at low pressure
• Balanced crankshaft — smoother rotation and less vibration at
higher RPM
• Tuned for PLA on the A1 mini — practical wall thicknesses and
fits the build volume; no exotic materials required
Printing & assembly tips
• Use a clean, dry PLA profile; avoid excessive elephant foot on
sliding surfaces
• Deburr valve bore and port edges lightly after support removal
• Lubricate sliding valve and crank interfaces with baby oil or
light oil — avoid thick grease that can gum PLA parts
Safety
• Do not exceed recommended pressure in the build notes
• Eye protection when testing with air duster
• Keep fingers clear of the crank and flywheel while pressurized
Share your makes, pressure settings, and RPM videos — happy spinning!
