About This Design While my previous remix for larger RFID fobs worked okay, it was slightly too thin and the fit wasn't quite perfect. To fix this, I recreated the model entirely from scratch. The thickness and sizing have been fully adjusted to ensure a much snugger fit on both the tag and the spool itself.
Thickness Options I have included to variations depending on your needs:
- 4.6mm Standard Version: Adds a few extra layers for a stronger, more solid holder. This added thickness also makes it much easier to add text labels.
- 4.2mm Thin Version: Same overall thickness of the original model, keeps the outside of the holder almost perfectly flush with the spool. (marked with T on the side)
Tag Fit Options Not all fobs are exactly the same size, these variations caters for variations to keep a secure fit
- Standard Version: Same size as the previous v2
- Tight Version: Allows for a marginally smaller key fob to be held securley (marked with T next to the fob slot )
Printing Recommendations: Print profiles are provided for both PLA, PETG and ABS. These are individually scaled STL so you don't need to make any scaling adjustments in the slicer, text is hard coded so it's not possible to get them mixed up (as I did in v2!)
- Tip1: Before printing out a large batch, print out all 4 variations in your chosen material and check the fit across a sample of your tags.
- Tip 2 : I highly recommend printing these in ABS (or another temperature-resistant material). This way, you won't have to worry about the holders warping or deforming when you put your spools in a filament dryer.
