Description

HydroLink – A Modular 3D-Printable Water Play Platform
HydroLink turns 3D printed parts into a real outdoor water-play system.
It combines rigid printable channels, reusable clamp connectors and a silicone-tube sealing method into a modular platform that can be built, rearranged and expanded.
Unlike fixed water toys, HydroLink is designed as an open-ended construction system. Children can create their own layouts, test how water moves, add active modules like the hand-powered Pump Station and explore future FlowLab components for flow control, blocking, guidance and vortex effects.
The system was developed through real outdoor testing and has already been updated with redesigned clamps for improved long-term sealing reliability
Not just a track — a growing water-play ecosystem.
Engineered for Stability
HydroLink was designed to be more than a loose set of water channels.
The connection system is intentionally rigid, allowing larger assembled sections to be lifted, moved and repositioned without falling apart. Completed layouts can even be stored vertically by hanging them on a wall when not in use.
Updated Sealing System
The system uses a simple silicone-tube seal with printed inlays and reusable clamps.
After long-term outdoor testing, the clamps were redesigned for stronger long-term clamping force and improved sealing reliability.
Required for proper sealing:
- **6 mm OD / 4 mm ID silicone tube**
- printed sealing inlays
- updated clamp parts
Without the silicone tube and inlays, the sealing system will not work correctly.
Easy FDM Printing
All parts are designed for practical FDM printing:
- no supports
- no post-processing
- ready to assemble
- modular expansion
- starter set available
Start with the HydroLink Starter Set before printing larger layouts.
Built to Expand
HydroLink is designed as a growing water-play ecosystem.
The current system can already be used as a complete outdoor play setup, but it is built for future modules such as:
- Pump Station
- FlowLab
- flow-control parts
- harbor elements
- vertical modules
- water-slide inspired features
Outdoor Use Only
HydroLink is intended for outdoor water play.
The sealing system is improved and reasonably tight, but small leaks are possible due to the modular design. Do not use indoors or on water-sensitive surfaces.
Adult supervision is recommended.
Feedback Welcome
HydroLink is actively tested and improved. Build photos, feedback and module ideas are very welcome.

FAQ:
- The seal is leaking or does not work. What did I miss?
Make sure you are using a silicone tube with an OD of 6 mm and an ID of 4 mm, and that the printed inlay is inserted into the tube. The tube itself forms the seal, so the system will not seal properly without it. Why do the updated clamps feel tight at first?
The updated clamps are designed with additional preload to improve long-term sealing reliability.
During outdoor use, especially in warm conditions, printed plastic parts can slowly relax due to material creep. The extra preload helps compensate for this effect. After initial use, the clamps may settle slightly and become easier to handle while still maintaining the pressure needed for a reliable seal. Why are there small lips inside the channel?
They are assembly aids. Once two modules are aligned, the lips help keeping them in position, so you can hold the assembly with one hand while attaching the clamp with the other. If needed you can break them of without damaging the whole system.
