The 999g Cube - PLA Density Reference
Print Profile(1)

Bill of Materials
Description
Almost a kilogram. On purpose.
The most honest shape there is. No curves to hide behind, no infill to fake it. Just a perfectly solid cube that weighs exactly what it's supposed to: 999 grams. One gram shy of a kilogram.
The dimensions are calculated so that when printed in standard PLA at 100% infill, the scale reads 999g. Not a coincidence — just density doing its job: 1.24 g/cm³, no tricks.
What's it for?
- A physical reference for PLA density in physics, engineering, or digital fabrication classes.
- A calibration object: you now have 806 cm³ of solid PLA to compare against any other print.
- A minimal desk object with a story behind it.
- The most solid answer to "how heavy is a 3D print?"
- A great conversation starter for anyone who asks what that cube on your desk is.
