Flat Bill Cap Box V2 | No AMS Required

The Flat Bill Cap Box V2 is here, and it includes several improvements based directly on community feedback!

This updated version features a functional cap button (the small round button found on the top of most baseball caps) that doubles as a convenient lifting handle. The button is printed in two pieces and allows you to easily remove the lid from the base while maintaining the realistic look of a classic flat bill cap.

What’s New in V2?

✅ Added a functional cap button/lift handle

✅ Improved lid-to-base tolerances for a smoother fit

✅ Lid now lifts off more easily without feeling loose

✅ Cleaner user experience when opening and closing the box

✅ Updated profiles and variants now use the new tolerance settings

✅ All future cap designs will include the functional cap button

Assembly

This model prints in multiple pieces and requires minimal assembly.

1. Insert the long stem of the cap button through the hole in the top of the cap lid.
2. Apply a small amount of glue to the stem.
3. Attach the top button piece and allow the adhesive to cure.

That’s it!

Why the Change?

Many users suggested making the lid easier to remove, especially on some of the tighter-fitting versions. After testing multiple tolerance adjustments, this version strikes a much better balance between secure fit and ease of use. The result feels more natural and makes the box significantly more enjoyable to use.

Future Plans

I’m really happy with how this version turned out. While the cap button currently requires glue, I am actively learning more advanced modeling techniques. Future versions may feature a threaded attachment system that eliminates the need for adhesive altogether.

Compatibility Note

All previously released cap profiles have been updated with these new tolerances. Moving forward, all new cap designs and themed variations will use this improved fit and include the functional cap button as standard.

Commercial Use

At this time, I do not offer a commercial license or commercial membership for my models. However, I am actively exploring options for offering commercial rights in the future. If commercial licensing becomes available, it will be announced on my profile.
