Description

Bring a Piece of Oriental Mysticism to Your Desk! 🐉✨

During a recent trip to Vietnam, I stumbled upon a beautiful and majestic golden guardian statue resting quietly at a local temple. Deeply fascinated by its intricate details and the cultural aura it carried, I decided to capture its essence and bring it into the world of 3D printing.

Using multiple photos taken on-site, I reconstructed this stunning creature into a 3D model using MakerLab's amazing photogrammetry tools. Now, you can print your very own piece of Southeast Asian heritage!

What is this creature? In Asian mythology, this creature is often associated with the Qilin (Kylin) or a traditional Guardian Lion (Foo Dog). In Vietnamese culture, similar mythical beasts are known as Lân or Nghê. They are revered as powerful symbols of protection, good fortune, and prosperity. Placing one on your desk or at your doorway is believed to ward off evil energy and bring luck to the household.

Model Features:

  • Authentic Origin: 100% scanned from a real, physical statue in a Vietnamese temple.
  • Rich Textures: Preserves the organic, hand-carved feel of the original temple artifact.
  • Perfect for Silk/Gold Filaments: As seen in my print photos, using Silk Gold PLA gives it that authentic, luxurious temple vibe.

💡 Printing Recommendations:

  • Material: PLA is perfect. I highly recommend using Silk Gold, Bronze, or Marble PLA to mimic the look of a traditional statue.
  • Supports: Tree supports are recommended for the overhanging parts (like the chin and tail) to preserve the intricate details.
  • Infill: 10% - 15% is plenty.
  • Layer Height: 0.16mm or 0.12mm for the best resolution of the fur and facial features.

I hope you enjoy printing this cultural treasure as much as I enjoyed bringing it to life. If you print one, please share your makes! I'd love to see this guardian protecting homes all over the world. 🌍
