05 Short Blade/Knife/Dagger Western Han Inlaid Gold Iron Short Sword
Print Profile(1)

Description
The replicated artifact is a Western Han inlaid gold iron short sword (also often called an inlaid gold iron dagger), unearthed in 1968 from the tomb of Liu Sheng, King Jing of Zhongshan, in Mancheng, Hebei, and is now preserved in the Hebei Museum.
It is approximately 36.7 cm long, with the blade and handle primarily made of iron. The pommel and guard are cast from a silver-based alloy, and are inlaid with gold flakes for decoration (the blade features flame/cloud patterns, while the pommel and guard have volute cloud patterns and beast masks). The combination of gold, silver, and iron creates a very exquisite craftsmanship, making it one of the representative weapon artifacts from the early Western Han dynasty.
