D4x2 mm Round Magnet (20PCS) - CA001

Description

Hex Shank Bit Case designed to securely hold the 12 hex-bits.

The model uses 4 x 2 mm magnets. The magnets are press-fitted into the bottom of each hole. To install them, first attach a magnet to the bottom of the largest drill bit, making sure it is centred. Then carefully press the magnet into the hole. Repeat this process for each slot.

If a magnet does not press-fit securely, add a small drop of super glue to the bottom of the magnet before inserting it into the slot.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  The default profile is set at 0.16mm layer height; changing this will mess the clearances and the magnets will not press-fit any more!

The magnets are optional as the lid prevents the bits from moving around and the fit prevents them from just falling out.

Three default profiles:

  1. Maximum bit length 25 mm (designed for standard hex-bits).
  2. Maximum bit length of 50 mm (designed for longer hex-bits).
  3. Maximum drill bit length of 135 mm (designed for drills with hex shank, 10mm drill bit can be stored inside).

I have also included configurable models for both the lid and the base. Please note that, because of the knurled surface, the model may take a long time to reload after changing parameters or produce an error. You can download the model and change parameters inside Autodesk Fusion.

Also note that, according to the ISO standard, ¼ inch hex bit shanks can range from 6.35 mm to 6.29 mm across flats, so you may need to adjust the clearance depending on your bits and printer calibration. I used 6.35 mm nominal diameter (across flats) and 0.20 mm clearance (by default).

If you are not sure about clearances, I suggest you print only “base” model or cut “base” model (cut it vertically so only magnet fit can be tested or cut out only section for one hex shank hole).

If you find the fit is not right, please message me. I will try to upload new profiles with better clearances for your case.
