Description

My model of Multistrada (2013 1200s Touring) has racks for the panniers to fit to. The lower part of these have rubber fittings to stop the panniers moving about. These rubber fittings have a habit of falling off and getting lost.  I try to remember to take them off and put them in the cases but last time I forgot and one got lost.  My nearest Ducati dealer is quite a drive away and not open today. I was about to go on a trip so thought it best to make my own.   I used FreeCad and modelled the replacement right hand one that I needed based upon the left hand one I still had.  Quick prototype in PLA to make sure the tricky shapes were correct and then printed in 95a TPU.  3 walls and adaptive height.  An hour later I had a perfectly fitting functional rubber mount that fits to the bike snugger than the original and the case slips on perfectly.   I then mirrored it for the left.  I don't need a left one at the moment so have only printed right one.   In the pictures, the shiny one is the new one and the matt one is my remaining original.   The picture on the bike is of my new printed one. 

 

I used 95a TPU with 3 walls.  Feels very slightly stiffer than my original one but flexes enough to slide onto the carrier bracket. Printing it with the slot downwards it printed fine with no support.   You will need to print it in TPU as it needs to flex to go over the mounting plate.  You may get away with some warm PLA/PETG but the design is to allow it to flex over the lip and then snap in place to hold it on the bike. 

 

There are 3 plates.  One Left, one right and one pair. Take less than 20g of filament and about an hour to print on my A1 mini.  My TPU profile is reduced to 210 degrees then printed at 125% speed.  Seems to work quite well for me but you should use whatever TPU settings work best for you.
