Description
Introducing the Overengineered Cup Holder! This is a gravity-powered mechanical holder where the downward force of your drink is stored as mechanical energy in the springs, releasing that energy to smoothly reset the mechanism the moment you pick up your cup.
⚙️ How it works:
- Drop it in: Place your cup, mug, or can onto the base.
- Auto-Grip: The weight of your drink pushes the base down, engaging a rack-and-pinion gear system.
- Secure Hold: The gears smoothly drive the side arms inward, automatically adjusting to the exact size of your cup and locking it in place.
- Spring Release: When you lift your drink, the tensioned springs instantly pull the arms back and raise the base to its original, open position.

🌟 Features:
- Overengineered for Fun: Satisfying mechanical movement every time you take a sip.
- Universal C-Clamp: Securely mounts to desks. This is part of C-Clap Modular Desk System. (Zachęcam do zapoznani sie z moelami) C-Clamp Modular Desk System
- Auto-Adjusting: Fits everything from slim cans to wide coffee mugs.
- Low-Poly Aesthetic: Designed in a sleek, modern low-poly style that looks great on any desk.
⚠️ Important Printing Note (Materials):
- Springs and Gears: These specific parts should be printed in PETG to ensure proper flexibility, tension, and long-term durability. Do not use PLA for the springs, as it will lose its elasticity over time!
🛠️ Hardware Required:
- 4x M3x20mm Screws
- 4x M3 Nuts
🔧 Assembly Instructions:
Please watch and follow the attached assembly video for a step-by-step guide on how to put everything together.
⚠️ Crucial Step: Pay close attention to the alignment of the side arms and the base relative to the gears. Proper timing and positioning of these parts are essential for the mechanical auto-grip system to function

- Arms: You need to press-fit the small locking elements (stoppers) into them to prevent the arms from sliding out.
- C-Clamp Assembly: The clamping mechanism consists of the main C-clamp body and threaded screws with press-fit pads.
💧Lubrication Tip:
For the smoothest and most satisfying operation, lightly lubricate the parts that experience friction. Apply a small amount of plastic-safe lube (like silicone grease or PTFE) to the gears, springs, the inner tracks of the arms, and the back of the sliding base.
