Description
CylFid - The Cylinder Fidget with a twist: the pattern between the 2 fidgeting connected parts creates a mesmerising optical illusion! Also the sound created by moving the 2 parts is, based on your own perception, either very satisfying or very annoying, so satisfy your ears and annoy your friends!
There are 2 profiles: regular size (1.5 hour print, 50g) and large size (2.5 hour print,110 g), each profile containing 4 plates:
- no pattern (fastest print)
- stone pattern (most elegant)
- brick pattern (classic and discreet)
- dot pattern (satisfying feeling)
The design is done in Shapr3D and it includes a 0.4mm tolerance (0.2mm per side) so right off the plate, even the small version should instantly release and fidget. There are 2 channels in the middle fins in one part and rounded pegs on the other part to restrict the movement so that the parts move easily, but stay together. Movement on both sides is about 45% of the total height of the model.
Also, I have experimented with filament switching at specific layers to create multicolor versions with minimal waste. Let me know if you have trouble with this and I will post a guide for it.
