Description

This is a right‑angle ball socket designed to replace the straight‑out joint on a Dashboard Phone Holder Mount . The original joint didn’t allow much flexibility because of the dashboard angle, so this version shifts the ball 90° for better phone positioning.

Designed in Tinkercad (model link provided if you want to remix).

The model includes a captured‑nut feature. You’ll need a layer pause to insert the nut during printing—pause right before the slot closes, drop the nut in, then resume the print.

Print the part on its side for strength. I used 6 perimeters and added a small cavity at the arm/base junction so the slicer reinforces that area. Supports with a generous Z‑distance come off cleanly. The sliding nut prints separately to avoid uneven cooling. The original screw is reused.

For real‑world use inside a car, PETG or ABS at 0.2 mm layer height is recommended for better heat resistance.
