Description
Double-rod mat fence lighting for 60x40 posts via dimmable LED module
I would be incredibly happy about a Like or Boost :-)
Here I provide you with my model and also a detailed DIY guide for building and installing the fence post light, which lights up exactly when you need it.
Here I present my post light for standard posts, e.g., a double-rod mat fence, with dimensions of 60x40mm.
The light is designed to be waterproof without a seal and replaces the standard post cap. Unlike other lights on the market, mine is not designed purely for decorative purposes, but also illuminates the fence and the area in front of it.
The model consists of 2 parts:
- Lamp body
- Glass body
I printed the lamp body from PETG in a grey tone to match my RAL7016 posts. In the lower area, there are 4 small webs that can be cut out with a cutter or a multi-tool.
For the glass body, I used Bambu PETG Translucent clear.
The fence posts require an internal cable for the 12V power supply of the LED module. I would recommend 2x2.5mm² cable, which is laid from post to post and connected at the upper end inside the post using WAGO 221-413. Another short cable then runs from the WAGO terminal through the tunnel of the lamp body directly to the LED module.
As an LED module, I used the Bioledex LED Module 40x25mm 12VDC 3W 270Lm 3000K, which is attached to the lamp body with a simple washer head screw.
The glass body is simply placed on top and can be secured with 2 small countersunk screws.
The finished light is then placed over the post; no further fastening is required.
I connected all lights to a dimmable 12V power supply, which can be controlled via a Shelly or other home automation.
If you have any questions, just ask. If there is enough demand, I could also design a model where the cable is not routed through the posts but from the outside. This would allow the lights to be used with existing posts where there is no internal cable.
