Description

A simple, fast-printing articulated fishing lure designed to print in place with minimal assembly required.

This model was created to be quick, easy, and fun to print while still producing a lure that moves naturally in the water. The articulated body creates a realistic wriggling action, and the internal weight distribution has been designed so the lure floats true based on my testing.

Features

- Print-in-place design
- Prints in under 20 minutes on my setup
-Minimal assembly required
- Floating articulated body
- Beginner-friendly project
- Great for testing colours and lure designs

Assembly

Only a few parts are required after printing:

  • 2 small screw-in eyelets
  • 1 swivel ring
  • 1 treble hook
  • Small amount of glue

The eye shown in the photos comes from a teddy bear eye kit purchased from Hobbycraft. However, any small black bead glued into position will work perfectly as an eye.

Printing Notes

This print has been tuned and tested on my printer. Your results may vary depending on printer calibration, filament, temperatures, and slicer settings.

Feel free to adjust print settings as needed to suit your machine.

For best results:

  • Allow the model to cool completely before removing it from the build plate.
  • Once removed, gently flex and wriggle the body sections to free all joints.
  • If any joints feel stiff, continue working them gently until they move freely.

Disclaimer

This design has been tested on my setup and floated correctly during testing. Water conditions, hardware choices, filament type, and print quality may affect performance.

Feedback Welcome

I'd love to hear how it prints and performs on your machine. If you make improvements, catch a fish with it, or have suggestions for future versions, please leave a comment or post a make.

Keep an eye out for Version 2 coming soon!
