Frodo's Sting sword The Lord of the Rings
Print Profile(1)

Description
This is the elven sword Sting, Frodo's sword from The Lord of the Rings film trilogy.
The sword is designed in a full-scale 1:1 size and has an overall length of 559 mm.
Both the blade and the guard feature the original Elvish inscriptions.
Maegnas aen estar nín – dagnir in yngyl im = "Sting is my name; I am the bane of spiders."
The core of the sword consists of a 490 mm long M5 threaded rod, which mechanically connects all parts into one solid assembly without the use of glue.
A safety M5 nut is embedded in the Blade_up part. A second safety M5 nut is inserted into the Grip part, which is designed for two-color filament printing using an AMS system. A standard M5 nut is embedded in the Pommel_A part.

The assembly procedure and part layout can be seen in the exploded_view drawing located in the gallery of this model.
For an impressive effect, the blade is printed using fluorescent PLA filament that glows blue in the dark after being exposed to light, just as Sting glowed blue in the movies when orcs were nearby.
For the blade, I used Spectrum PLA Glow in the Dark Blue filament.

To further enhance the display and allow the sword to be hung on a wall, I also designed a dedicated wall mount.
The wall mount features beautiful golden ornaments and the inscription from the One Ring:
The base of the wall mount is printed in two separate parts, which are fastened together using three M5×30 socket head screws and nuts.
A separately printed ring featuring the inscription from the One Ring, along with the golden ornaments, is glued into the base.
The sword itself is supported by two M6 L-hooks with a length of 60 mm.
The assembly and all individual parts can be seen in the exploded_view image located in the gallery of this model.
The threaded rod, screws, nuts, and L-hooks can be purchased at any Hobby market.
The print profile is well-tuned and easy to print, making this project suitable for everyone.
I hope this sword brings you joy, and enjoy its blue glow during the evening hours—it is truly an impressive sight, just like in the The Lord of the Rings movies.
Happy printing!
