The Ultimate Damage-Free Window Cat Perch Brackets
Print Profile(1)

Description
Give your cat the ultimate window view without ruining your walls. These 3D printed support brackets let you build a sturdy, stable window perch for your favorite feline friend. The best part is that zero screws go into your wall, making it 100% renter friendly and ensuring it leaves no damage behind.
Once installed, the brackets give the perch a clean, floating look, making it appear as though your cat is relaxing right in midair.
How It Works
The 3D printed brackets screw directly into your custom wooden perch board, not your house. The board is securely held in place by two 2 inch steel corner braces tucked into the window track. The 3D printed brackets then act as heavy duty diagonal supports against the wall, transferring the weight seamlessly.
Because the steel braces lock down directly into the window track, you can still open your window for some fresh air without affecting the stability of the perch.
Pro Tip: Stick a small piece of adhesive felt padding onto the bracket feet where they meet the wall to ensure your paint stays flawless.
Sizing Your Perch
The custom board used in the project photos is 22 inches wide by 16 inches deep. However, you can easily customize this to fit your space. Feel free to scale your board smaller to match narrower windows or to better fit a smaller room layout. Use caution with larger shelfs since they could change the center of gravity and tip the shelf.
What You Need to Complete the Build
This model is a utility component for a DIY assembly project rather than an all in one solution. You will need to gather a few additional materials to complete the setup shown in the photos:
- A custom wooden board: You can wrap this in carpet or fabric for premium cat comfort. If you are looking to save money, you can often find cheap carpet remnants at your local big box store where they discount the ends of the rolls. The board we used was a standard ¾ inch shelf wrapped in carpet.
- Two 2-inch steel corner braces: These will need to be bent slightly to lock securely into your specific window sill or track.
- Wood screws: These are used to attach both the 3D printed brackets and the steel corner braces to the underside of your wooden board. Corner brackets usually have screws included, and we used 1 inch Kreg screws to attach the brackets to the bottom of the shelf.
- Adhesive felt pads: Place these on the feet of the 3D printed brackets to protect your wall.
If you print this, we'd love to see a photo of your fur baby catching some sun and living their best life on their new perch!
