Mexican Sombrero Textured Coaster: USA-Mexico-Canada World Cup Celebration

The paper straw hats that went viral during the 2026 USA-Canada-Mexico World Cup, with a rain of hats flying everywhere, became an iconic and classic scene on the field. These seemingly simple paper hats actually blend Mexican folk culture with traditional craftsmanship.

The creation of this work originated from the highly recognizable Mexican fan straw hats seen at the World Cup.Its prototype is the classic Mexican wide-brimmed straw hat, the Sombrero, a local iconic cultural symbol. The surface pattern adopts traditional Mexican perforated paper cutting, Papel Picado, an essential folk art for celebrations. Overall, it embodies national culture and stadium revelry, and is also a fun prop for collective interaction.

At first glance, I was deeply captivated by the unique hollow floral pattern on the hat body. It combines the texture of Latin American folk paper cutting with a geometric border exclusive to the event. It is both retro and full of a passionate football atmosphere. It was difficult to find a perfectly matching vector pattern among existing materials.

To fully reproduce this pattern, I collected a large number of real-shot photos from the stadium. All three-dimensional modeling was done from scratch, relying entirely on manual surveying, mapping, and layered drawing. No existing templates were used, fully preserving the delicate and transparent hollow layers of the original straw hat pattern. It comes in two basic color schemes: classic Mexican home green and pure white, and also supports custom color changes, transforming the iconic national visual from the stadium into a lightweight, everyday World Cup commemorative item.
