Description
This small hang-on aquarium filter is an air-pump-powered filter system designed for small tanks, betta tanks, nano aquariums, planted tanks, and custom aquarium setups. It runs from a standard aquarium air pump, so there is no need for an additional water pump.
This design is based on / remixed from “Fish Tank Filter Box”. I would have marked it as an official remix, but I was unable to create an account on MakerWorld China.

Improvements and added features over the original:
- Air-pump powered design — no extra water pump needed
- Airlift tube slides into built-in slots to help keep it from moving or floating
- Friction-fit airlift tube extensions included for larger tanks
- Adjustable fit using shims for rimless aquariums
- Includes a printable air stone designed to fit inside the airlift tube
- You can also use any air stone up to 14 mm wide
- Includes a “Y” airline splitter for air pumps with dual outlets
- Airline tubing guides included to help route tubing neatly
- Filter media boxes with friction-fit lids
- Includes both 1.2 mm and 1.5 mm grid versions
- Great for activated carbon, Ammo-Carb, and other chemical media
- Biological media cube included for beneficial bacteria growth
- Filter media boxes and biological media cube are designed to sit inside any of the filter compartments
The filter is easy to print and assemble. You only need an aquarium air pump and standard airline tubing to get it running.
Recommended material: PETG
PETG is recommended because this part will be used in and around aquarium water.
What you need separately:
- Aquarium air pump
- Airline tubing
- Filter media of your choice
- Optional command strips, double-sided tape, or glue for shims
Note:
Always rinse printed parts thoroughly before aquarium use.
