Intex to Bestway Threaded Pool Adapter
🎯 Project Purpose
This upgrade allows the installation of high-flow Intex threaded pipes (typical of more powerful sand filters) on Bestway Power Steel pools, which originally came with restrictive 32 mm smooth rubber thru-wall fittings. Instead of using flow-restricting reducers, this system replicates Intex screw-on thru-wall fittings directly onto the pool wall.
✂️ Important Installation Notes
- Liner cutting: It is necessary to cut off the old 32 mm smooth tube flush with the PVC.
- Hole diameter: It is highly recommended to trim the hole in the PVC, making it slightly larger than the outer diameter of the printed threaded pipe. This prevents the liner structure from creating tension, bending, or getting stuck within the threading during ring tightening.
- Gasket Position (Washers): The larger TPU washer should be inserted inside the pool, sandwiched between the printed adapter flange and the PVC liner. The water pressure itself will compress it, ensuring a perfect watertight seal. The smaller washer, on the other hand, should be placed externally, inside the Intex pipe nut.
- Tightening: Tighten the nut firmly by hand. Do not use mechanical tools to avoid stripping the plastic thread.
🖨️ Print Plates Guide
The .3mf file is already divided into ready-to-print plates with optimized parameters:
- X2D support: Contains the special nut with retaining teeth. Configured for IDEX printers with Z distance at 0 mm and supports set on the second extruder with PLA filament (perfect detachment).
- generic printer no support: Contains the main pipe and the standard (smooth) nut. Optimized for standard single-extruder printers, no support required.
- generic printer support: Contains the nut with retaining teeth configured for single-extruder printers. Supports are of the same material with Z distance top set to 0.24 mm and X/Y distance to 0.8 mm for easy removal.
- TPU washers: Contains the sealing gaskets. Print strictly in TPU with 100% Concentric Infill to ensure maximum watertightness under pressure.
⚠️ Recommended Parameters for PETG parts
- Material: PETG (highly recommended against chlorine and chemicals) or ASA (for maximum UV resistance).
- Walls: Minimum 4 - 5 perimeters to ensure the watertightness of the part along the layers.
- Infill: 35% - 50% Gyroid or Cubic.
