Description

Give your Waveshare 5" ESP32 display a clean, professional look.

Unlike most enclosures, this case routes the USB-C connection to the rear of the enclosure using an inexpensive USB-C extension, so there isn't an unsightly cable sticking out of the side. The result is a display that looks much more like a finished commercial product.

Designed from the ground up for easy 3D printing, assembly and everyday use.

Features

  • ✅ Rear-mounted USB-C connector for a much cleaner appearance
  • ✅ No supports required
  • ✅ Front-loading design - simply insert the display from the front
  • ✅ No separate rear cover to print
  • ✅ All screws are hidden at the rear
  • ✅ Built-in stand with two viewing angles
    • Upright
    • Approximately 45° reclined
  • ✅ Decorative honeycomb side panels
  • ✅ Compact, strong design with minimal material usage
  • ✅ Easy to assemble

Printing

The model has been designed specifically for reliable printing.

  • No supports required
  • Minimal post-processing
  • Suitable for PLA, PETG or similar materials

Hardware Required

In addition to the printed parts and screws, you will need:

  • Low-profile USB-C connector
  • USB-C chassis connector

(See links below.)

Low profile usb connector

USB-c chassis connector

The two cables simply need connecting together. I soldered mine and covered the joints with heat shrink tubing, but twisting the wires together and insulating them with electrical tape will also work.

Why the rear USB-C?

Most cases leave the USB cable exiting from the side, which can make even a nice dashboard look unfinished.

By moving the connector to the rear you get:

  • Cleaner cable management
  • Better appearance on a desk
  • A more professional finished look

Perfect For

This enclosure is ideal for:

  • Home Assistant dashboards
  • ESPHome projects
  • Smart home control panels
  • Weather displays
  • Clock dashboards
  • Status displays
  • Information panels
  • Custom IoT projects

Future Variants

I'm gradually designing matching cases for additional ESP32 display boards to create a consistent family of enclosures.

Current roadmap includes:

  • Waveshare 4.3"
  • ✅ Waveshare 5" (this model)
  • Planned support for additional Waveshare displays
  • Planned support for Guition and ESP32-P4 based boards

If this model is useful, please consider leaving a Like, Download, or Boost—it really helps me continue designing and releasing new versions.
