Description

Universal Portable Air Conditioner Rectangular to Round Duct Adapter

Designed to provide a smooth transition from the rectangular outlet of a portable air conditioner to a standard round exhaust duct.

Unlike many adapters with abrupt transitions, this design features a gradual aerodynamic funnel that promotes smoother airflow while maintaining a clean and sturdy design.

This adapter has been designed, printed and tested on a real portable air conditioner.

Printing Recommendations

  • Material: PETG (recommended)
  • Layer Height: 0.20 mm
  • Walls: 3–4
  • Infill: 15–20% Gyroid
  • Supports: Not required

⚠️ PLA is not recommended. The exhaust air of portable air conditioners can become hot enough to soften or deform PLA over time. PETG offers much better heat resistance and is therefore the recommended material for long-term use.

Notes

This model was designed from scratch with airflow efficiency as the main priority. The smooth internal geometry helps reduce airflow restriction compared to adapters with sharp internal transitions.

The adapter was successfully tested using rigid ventilation ducting. Flexible exhaust hoses can create additional airflow resistance, which may reduce cooling performance and increase exhaust temperatures.
