Description

Description

A fully parametric C-clip that snaps onto any cylindrical or oval handle (oven, drawer, cabinet, appliance, tool) and displays a bold, raised text label. No glue or screws — just squeeze it onto the handle and it stays put.

Fully customizable via OpenSCAD / MakerWorld parameters: set your own handle size, text, clip tightness, and label before printing.

⚠️ Print strength note: I printed my first version at clip_wall = 2mm and it snapped during install. I'd recommend 3mm or higher for the wall thickness, especially if your filament is PLA or the handle sees repeated flexing. PETG holds up better at thinner walls if you want to stay closer to 2mm.

Parameter Guide

Handle Opening

  • handle_width — width of the handle you're clipping onto (left-right), in mm
  • handle_height — height/thickness of the handle (top-bottom), in mm
    (Measure your handle's cross-section — round handles: width = height = diameter)

Clip

  • clip_wall — thickness of the clip ring wall; thicker = stronger grip
  • clip_depth — how far the clip extends along the handle (length of the ring)
  • clip_clearance — extra internal room so the clip isn't too tight; increase if handle doesn't slide in easily
  • gap_fraction — how wide the opening gap is; larger = easier to snap on, smaller = tighter hold
  • clip_fillet — rounds the corners at the gap opening for comfort/looks

Text

  • text_string — the label text (e.g. "DISH", "TOOLS")
  • text_width — target width of the text; font size auto-scales to fit
  • text_thickness — how much the raised letters stick up
  • font — any installed font (default: Comic Sans MS Bold)
  • text_rotate_x/y/z — orientation of the text relative to the clip

Text Backing

  • edge_width — thickness of the bold outline/border around the text shape
  • plate_thickness — thickness of the solid backing plate behind the letters

Text / Plate Position

  • text_offset_x/y/z — fine-tune where the label sits relative to the clip ring

Quality

  • $fn — curve smoothness (higher = smoother circles, slower render)

Print Settings Suggestion

  • No supports needed
  • 2-3 walls minimum for clip strength
  • PETG or PLA+ recommended if handle sees regular flexing
