Keep your phone attached to a wrist strap, lanyard or carabiner without blocking the charging port.

The wide insert is placed between the phone and its protective case. The reinforced attachment tab is guided through the USB-C opening, creating a practical connection point for a carabiner, wrist strap or lanyard.

The USB-C port remains freely accessible, so the phone can still be charged without removing the insert. The wide internal section distributes the pulling force across a larger area inside the case instead of concentrating the entire load on the small attachment tab.

🧵 Recommended Material: TPU 95A

The pictured part was printed from TPU 95A. This material offers a good balance of flexibility, strength and ease of printing.

TPU 95A is not particularly difficult to print and is considerably easier to handle than very soft TPU filaments. With a suitable TPU profile, moderate printing speed and dry filament, the model can be printed reliably.

The flexible material is essential for this application. It allows the attachment tab to bend and move slightly under load instead of suddenly snapping like a rigid plastic part could.

Rigid materials such as PLA or PETG are therefore not recommended for this model.

🔧 Installation

1. Remove the phone from its protective case.
2. Place the wide section of the insert inside the case.
3. Guide the attachment tab through the USB-C opening.
4. Insert the phone completely back into the case.
5. Attach a suitable carabiner, wrist strap or lanyard.

⚠️ Compatibility, Safety and Liability

Compatibility depends on the phone and protective case being used. The case must have a sufficiently large and open USB-C cutout, as well as enough internal space for the insert.

Before carrying the phone, carefully test the attachment under controlled conditions and make sure the case is fitted securely around the phone. Regularly inspect the printed part for cracks, stretching, damage or material fatigue and replace it immediately if any damage is visible.

The strength and durability of the part depend on the filament, print settings, layer adhesion, case design, carabiner and conditions of use.
