Material Selection is Crucial for Strength

Your choice of filament is the single most important factor in the final strength of this model. For a durable, functional piece, you must use a material known for its mechanical performance.

✅ Recommended Materials:

• PETG: The best all-around choice for most users. It offers an excellent balance of high strength, impact resistance, and ease of printing.
• ABS / ASA: For maximum durability and temperature resistance. These materials are tougher than PETG but require a more advanced printing setup (often an enclosure).

• Nylon (and its composites): The ultimate choice for impact resistance and toughness. Nylon is incredibly durable but can be challenging to print, requiring specific storage and print settings.

   

• PLA+ / Tough PLA: If you prefer to use PLA, make sure it is a "PLA+" or "Tough" variant from a reputable brand. These are specially formulated for higher strength and impact resistance compared to standard PLA.

❌ Materials to AVOID:

It is critical to avoid aesthetic filaments for this model. Materials like Silk PLA, Matte PLA, and Wood-fill PLA are not suitable for any application requiring strength.

Why are they weak? The additives that give these filaments their unique visual finishes (shine, texture, or color) severely compromise their structural integrity. These particles interfere with layer-to-layer adhesion and make the final print brittle and prone to shattering under stress. Using them for this design will result in a weak, unreliable part.

Sizing and Print Instructions

Sizing: To ensure a perfect fit, multiple sizes are available. If you are unsure of your size, please print the "Sizing Demo" profile first. These are hollow, low-infill versions that print quickly and use minimal filament, allowing you to test the fit before committing to a full-strength print.

Printing Recommendations:

• Infill: 100% infill is required for maximum strength.
• Layer Height: A layer height of 0.15mm to 0.2mm is recommended for a good balance of detail and strength.
• Supports: The model is designed to print perfectly without any support material.
• Orientation: For best results, print the model lying flat on the print bed as provided in the file.
