Description

Following a discussion I had with @ThatMakerKid, I wanted to create my own set of 3d printed spudger tools inspired by the iFixit spudger designs but with a geometry better suited for FDM printing.

I decided to create 3 models to achieve different tasks I needed a spudger for:

These design all takes the shape of an octagonal shape to reduce the requirement for raft layers or support around the shaft while being still pretty comfortable to use with their pencil like shape.

Printing

This model should be printed at 0.10mm layer height with 100% infill, I also recommend to use supports and a brim when printing the spudger-pencil and spudger-large model to ensure the tip comes out clean and the wedge is not deformed by a heated bed. Depending on your printer capabilities, brim and support might not be required though.

  • Raft: no
  • Supports: recommended (Support style: snug, Top contact Z distance: 0.1mm, With sheath around the support: true)
  • Brim: recommended (Brim type: outer brim only, Brim width: 3mm)
  • Layer Height: 0.10mm
  • Infill: 100%
