Description

Are you looking to do your own wedding decor? Throw a Valentine's Day party? Add this cake stand to your dessert display to elevate your spread! If you look closely, the somewhat scalloped edge is actually a full rim of heart motifs extruded towards the center.

Don't limit your imagination to just cakes, this display stand can also hold bowls with party favors, clusters of electric candles, or any number of things! Play with different colors and translucency to create a cohesive, but playful an ensemble.
Additionally - don't limit yourself just to wedding decor! This cake stand is robust enough to support a variety of objects in any number of settings. As a general rule, a junk bowl on your coffee table full of TV remotes, always looks better sitting atop a fun cake stand. Believe me.

Design Features:

  • Heart motif rim - balanced to be subtle enough to not be overbearing, but clear enough to still be recognizable as hearts
  • Multi-use - use this display stand for anything from desserts to potted plants
  • No support printing - this design doesn't require any support and utilizes the full bed of your X1 carbon
  • “Glowing” - the translucent PETG with 3D honeycomb infill glows gloriously in sunlight (recreate the look with the provided print profile!)

Notes on Print Settings & Size:

  • I have only printed the final design (pictured) in PETG on a textured PEI plate at the provided size - experiment with scaling if you wish!
I test printed a number of previous iterations out of PLA in a scaled down size, so I imagine this design will scale successfully.
  • ~10cm tall with a 25cm diameter
  • ~312g (relatively conservative filament usage!)
  • Non-standard X1 Carbon settings:
    • 3 walls (Arachne)
    • 7.5% 3D honeycomb infill
    • 5 bottom shell layers
    • no support (technically it is enabled, but the threshold is set so that it doesn't generate any)
    • slowed down first layer 40mm/s to help with consistent bed adhesion
