Description

I designed this using HueForge and my own “Boxel” modular box as a base!

Refer to that for more info or to make your own similar box!

Panels to make a standard or mini “Boxel” box resembling a pumpkin or jack-o-lantern from Minecraft!

Multiple options for size and appearance. Can be a lantern for use with an LED tea light, or used for storage!

Please refer to important notes below for more information!

Printing:

You will need:

  • the normal or lightweight frame/lid (in the size of your choice) from my Boxel model.
  • Face/Side panels… Either x3 side panels and x1 face panel (OR just x4 side panels for a normal pumpkin). Alternatively, you can do like I did on the larger one and do x2 side panels and x2 face panels for a reversible box (see video).
  • x1 lid panel, which includes the stem, which acts as a handle.

All panels slot into the frame/lid. Glue optional.

Printed on Bambu Lab P1S with 0.4mm nozzle and AMS using the following filaments:

  1. Bambu PLA Basic (jade white) -hueforge panel top color (only if using the bonus “lights on” face").
  2. Bambu PLA Basic (yellow) - hueforge panel top color.
  3. Bambu PLA Basic (orange) - hueforge panel color. Could also make a good color for frame/lid.
  4. Bambu PLA Basic (brown) - hueforge panel color.
  5. Bambu PLA Matte (charcoal) OR Bambu PLA Basic (black) - hueforge panel base color.
  6. Bambu PLA Matte (mandarin orange) - Frame/Lid, and optional interior panel color (ideal for tea light).
  7. Bambu PLA Matte (lemon yellow) - Stem only, possibly a good alternative interior panel color choice for tea light version too.

Important Notes:

  • YOU MUST CHANGE PRINTER SETTINGS FOR THIS TO WORK AS INTENDED! You need to be able to print at 0.04mm layer height to achieve the color blending as I have. I can't change this setting for you, so you must do it manually!
  • I've included versions of each panel that have either a black or an orange base, depending on how you want the interior of your pumpkin to look. If using a tea light, I'd go with the orange interior option.
  • Printing with orange interior or matte yellow stem (as I did) will use more than 4 colors. You can do this with just one AMS (as I did), but must perform some manual filament swaps during the print!
  • Panels can make for decent coasters!
  • Thicken panel base (Z-axis), or scale box down a tiny bit if you want a tighter fit. I prefer to keep it as is and use glue if desired.
  • The panels are generated with hueforge, and as such must contain color swaps at the correct layers to achieve the desired color blending affect. If swaps aren't done as intended or with the same materials, it won't look the same as mine. Each panel has different layers it needs color swaps on, so they can't all be done at once as-is!
  • If your frame comes out like this, that's fine! just remove the loose strands and you're good to go!

Enjoy!
