Description

Boost Me (for free)

I design because I genuinely love bringing new ideas to life and sharing them with the community. If you have a Boost token available, I’d be incredibly grateful if you considered boosting this model. Your support helps me get more PLA from the Bambu Lab store so I can keep printing, testing, and releasing even more designs. I've got a ton of ideas lined up - and boosting helps make sure they don’t get shelved before I can bring them to life. Thanks for helping me keep creating!

If you're looking for different sizes, please look at the print profiles to find a 20mm and an 18mm.

Over the years, I've pieced together a number of templates for my leather hobby. Recently, I started to experiment with all-in-one leather templates.

This is a 3D Printed Leather Watch Strap Template. This is a solution designed to simplify the creation of a luxury (Luxury is subjective of courses) leather watch strap. This template is specifically crafted for a 22mm watch strap, featuring all the necessary components in a contained design that ensures everything fits perfectly in place.

Included in the template are:

  • Centering Jig: Assists in aligning all parts accurately during assembly.
  • Band Templates: These sections outline where to cut the leather for the watch strap.
  • Small band loops: The loops that will hold the leather bands together.

You need to have a bit of knowledge about leather working, but assuming you do, this can help create a robust and high-quality watch strap. I'll share some photos below, and possibly add a video in the future depending on whether or not people need it. This is not intended to be a full and detailed guide. Again, this is mainly for leather workers who have an idea of how these work, but need a quick template to print out.

Start off by cutting out 4 straps. 2 of the straps are going to be the “bottom” layer. This bottom layer is going to be cut to the size of the bands since this size will not change in the future.

You need to glue the “padding” to the bottom straps and then cut off the excess leather at the top. You need to be parallel to the padding.

Two things need to happen on the next step - cut out the excess strap on the short strap. This can be done by aligning the strap to the template as seen below. Then you'll need to skive down the padding. See second image below.

You need to skive down the padding as much as possible to make it “round” - again, this is done to make it look good. Once you have this skived down, add glue to the bottom and top pieces. Then use the Jig at the bottom right to make sure they line up. Add the bottom piece first, and then add the top piece above it. It SHOULD be lined up correctly.

Lastly, bend over the overlap at the top and bottom. You can use a temporary piece of filament to keep things together with enough spacing for the watch clip. You still need to add the loops, which I didn't photograph in the steps because of how long the post was going to be.

But the final step after that would be to stich things together as seen in the image below. Repeat the process for the large strap, and send it!
