Description

Edit 8/12/25:

V2 design added, intended to work with newer gen models of the Billy bookcase (2022 and later, maybe). I don't own the new shelves to test with, so if there fit issues I'm happy to adjust based on measurements.

V1 should work with older model bookcases and 5mm pins.

I noticed that Ikea's Skadis pegboards are perfectly sized to fit within their Billy bookshelf, so I made a part to help hang them. I used the 30" x 22" pegboard for the wider bookshelf and the free-standing 22" x 14 ½" pegboard for the narrower shelf. The 22" x 22" board would also work.

This solution repurposes the existing holes and metal pegs used for mounting shelves, so no drilling or extra hardware is required. To install, press the metal pegs from the bookshelf into the two holes on the printed part, then press that into the holes at a height that aligns with the pegboard slots.

This solution allows two possible depths for hanging the pegboard, using either the front or back row of holes. The mounting hole is sized so that Ikea's mounting screws are self-tapping - I haven't had an issue with this so far, but you could also use an M4 nut on the back for extra strength. You may have to dial in the fit of the pegs with a drill or employ some hammering depending on your printer settings.

Excellent design, that holds the SKADIS nicely in place in a BILLY book case. My LEGO Speed Champions are looking much better than being on one of the normal shelves.

Do you have a model of the pegs? The current Billy bookcases use a different peg design.

You're right, I didn't realize pre-2013 bookcases use a different style of peg. I'll try to make a version of the design that has the pegs integrated of (maybe) works with the new style. In the meantime, you could try printing this model, it looks like a match for the metal pins I have: https://makerworld.com/en/models/654166

It would be really nice if you could make it to use the new style of pegs. I tried printing off those pegs, and the new Billy's peg holes are very small. I would have to drill out my billy to use those pegs. There's two boosts in it for you :P

Hi! I'm sorry I wasn't able to get to this when you asked. In case you're still looking for a modified part, I just uploaded one in the V2 folder here that might work for you. I don't actually have a newer shelf to test it with, so if you're able to take any measurements of the hole diameter I may be able to improve the fit - I just pulled some dimensions from online. Also, the new pegs are a little harder to design around so I tried to just include them in the print. Hope it helps!

I noticed they fit in there today at IKEA, ordering my Billy bookcases and will be doing the same. Thank you for your effort, looking forward to printing mine
