About aircraft
Model of the well-known American fighter in 1:72 scale
The P-51D Mustang is a renowned American fighter aircraft that played a crucial role during World War II. Developed by North American Aviation, it was introduced in 1944 as an improvement over earlier Mustang models. The P-51D featured a powerful Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, which significantly enhanced its performance at high altitudes. Equipped with six .50 caliber machine guns and capable of carrying bombs and rockets, it was versatile in both air-to-air combat and ground-attack missions. Its long range allowed it to escort bombers deep into enemy territory, contributing to the Allies' air superiority. The P-51D's combination of speed, agility, and firepower made it one of the most effective and celebrated fighter aircraft of the war.
