The "Shang" character city sculpture is the most famous landmark in Shangqiu City, symbolizing its cultural significance as the "source of three merchants." This sculpture was designed based on the oracle bone script "Shang" character, featuring two vertical, intersecting "Shang" characters forming a tripod shape, appearing identical from all four sides. The sculpture stands tall and majestic, embodying the essence of Eastern culture, and signifies the origin of the Shang clan, the beginning of commerce, and the prosperity of the ancient Shang people in this very place. The entire "Shang" character is red, representing the origin of fire. Upon closer inspection, you'll discover intricate and delicate patterns on the sculpture, leaving you with much to ponder. This sculpture is located at the intersection of Shangqiu's main thoroughfares Divine Fire Avenue and Nanjing Road and was completed in June 1997. It serves as an important landmark in Shangqiu's urban area. Today, skyscrapers surround "Shang" Square, which has evolved into the new city center of Shangqiu. This sculpture has become the most famous landmark in Shangqiu City.
