Description

~~~
Update 12/9: Although I have designed this system specifically for elegoo, I have gotten feedback that they work for eSun and Inland spools as well. However, I have not personally tested this fit. Please let me know if it works!
~~~

I was frustrated by the poor fit of the elegoo cardboard spools on the AMS Lite - the spool ID is just a bit too small to properly fit on the system. This leads to the spool not sitting flush with the AMS Lite arm, and the pads not gripping the spool properly leading to the potential for the spool to fall off the AMS.

This print consists of 2 parts: a cut template to guide precision cuts to the cardboard spool, and adapter ring inserts to fit in the cutout areas.

To use this, follow these steps:
1. Print out the 2 Cut Guides and 2 Inserts (Plate 1). If you want additional adapters of other colors, you can use Plate 2 in the print profile.

2. Align the cut guides so that the posts fit inside the pockets (see photo of adapter fit).

3. Insert the cut guides through the spool and connect them with the aligned posts/pockets (see photo of properly installed cut guide on spool).

4. Using a sharp blade (utility blade, x-acto knife), carefully score the cardboard in the areas of the template (see photo). Note that this step requires use of sharps - please use proper safety equipment to avoid injury. Safety eyewear and gloves are recommended at minimum.

5. Either continue scoring with the blade until cardboard has been cut through on all 6 sections (3 each side), or use a power cutting tool such as a rotary tool or Dremel to expedite the process. This step can take some time and be quite difficult with just a blade - please be careful!

6. Punch out any remaining cardboard from the cut areas until you have a gear with 3 rectangular cutouts on each side (see photo).

7. Insert adapters into the spool ID, aligning the cutouts with the adapter features. The fit is snug, so it may require some force to snap them in.

8. Install your perfectly fitting Elegoo spool onto the AMS Lite!

If you have spool adapters piling up, @djoveryde has made a holder, found here.
