What could be better than a Hot Rod to showcase a functional V8 engine? ... A Hot Rod equipped with a spring mechanism that turns both its V8 engine and moves the car forward!
Hello everyone, I propose you print this complete Hot Rod equipped with its functional V8 engine and powered by a powerful 3D printed spring. I created this model to be FUN and accessible to everyone, it is printable with all 3D printers (with a 0.4mm nozzle).
If you are a fan of engines and tuning, you already know Hot Rods. It is a typically American tuning style carried out with classic or vintage automobiles, aiming to completely revolutionize the starting model with exaggerated modifications both aesthetically and mechanically.

I wanted to combine the fun of a spring-powered car with the mechanics of a functional V8 engine. The spring mechanism (3D printed spring) drives the rear wheels + the engine. The result is incredible!
It is important to carefully read my assembly instructions in detail so as not to miss anything or be blocked during assembly.
To assemble this model it will be necessary to use some screws (any M3 screw shape between 12 and 8mm long) and highly recommended to use bearings, here is the shopping list that I used, everything is available in your favorite Bambu store:
M3 x 10 BHCS Screws AA172 Quantity: 15
5 x 8 x 2.5 bearing - MR85ZZ – EA013 - Quantity: 2
8 x 12 x 3.5 bearing – MR128ZZ – EA004– Quantity: 15
(Direct access to articles in Bambu store at the bottom of the page)
Bearings are not mandatory, I offer you another solution below in the description.
If you are only interested in the engine as a decorative object, you can print it with its support and radiator without the headlight supports. You will be able to turn it manually. I have optimized the number of trays for P1 and X1 printers, if you print it on other machines, or with another slicer, it may be necessary to move the parts on the trays and/or create new trays.
I have sized the chassis so that it can fit on a small printer such as: A1 mini (180x180x180 see photo for placement)

If you do not have the possibility to print TPU or PAHT-CF (for the spring) with your printer, no problem, I have made other parts to be able to print it in PLA, everything is specified directly on each tray in the slicer.
If you do not want to buy bearings, I have prepared a print profile to replace them. You will be able to assemble the model on 3D printed plastic rings, but it will lose some performance.
Refer to the assembly instructions to ensure that you assemble everything in the right direction without asking yourself any questions (there are many pages but the essential is in the photos). In case of problems, do not hesitate to ask me, I answer within a few days.
I hope you will enjoy assembling this V8 engine to mount it on this Hot Rod as much as I enjoyed designing it.

Welcome to American tuning !!!
(Upgrade with the parts I designed for my next Hot Rod model)
You can now UPGRADE your engine by installing a belt-driven supercharger with its oversized air intake. Assembly instructions are included in the manual.
In addition, you can print the new rocker covers which are more realistic with their exposed spark plugs.
All these parts can be mixed to your liking to have the finish you want.

If you like the concept, let me know in the comments. Based on your feedback, I may be able to create other models based on the same principle in a few weeks.
Have fun!
