Description

*** We now have a NEW 4 SPOOL UNIT for H2(D,S,Pro) owners ***

Please read this note about sizing and printing!

Boxes for Bambu Filament Spools will NOT fit in this unit. The boxes you see in the pictures above are for Bambu Filament Refills, not Bambu Filament Spools.

Unit Interior Dimensions: 70mm wide x 210mm tall x 210mm deep.

Refill box Dimension: 66mm x 204mm x 195mm

Spool Box Dimensions: 69mm x 218mm x 208mm

If you want to store Bambu Filament Spool boxes then you will need to scale everything up to 107% (see the thread I've linked below on 10/27)

Also, X1 and P1 users, make sure you turn off your Auxilliary fan when printing this!

This is a modular system that uses 1, 2 , 3 or 4 spool units to create a highly configurable storage solution. Allows you to turn almost any available space into storage for your filament! Units can be connected together horizontally and vertically using nut and bolt-like connectors. Extremely strong, can be stacked 8-9 units high!

There are several print profiles to choose from:

.4 mm “Classic” profiles.4 mm “Version 2” profiles.6 mm “Version 2” profiles
  • Original model
  • Slowest to print
  • Uses the least filament
  • More likely to have artifacts and print defects
  • Newest model
  • Prints 25% faster than “Classic”
  • Uses ~ 7% more filament
  • Prints much cleaner than “Classic”
  • Previously known as “BETA”
  • For those who just want it fast!
  • Prints ~50% faster than “Classic”
  • Uses 20% MORE filament than “Classic”
  • Prints clean and fast with visible layer lines (.42 mm layer height)

The model that started it all.

Designed with the primary purposes of strength and filament conservation. Easily identified by the octagon shaped cutouts in the sides, back, top and bottom faces.

These profiles are kept here for people who originally used them and want to keep their units homogenous.

Faster and cleaner!

Version 2 was designed to work with the “Classic” model but had to print faster and cleaner. This was done by removing the large arch in the back and changing the cutout shape and pattern on all of the faces. This will be the supported version moving forward and can be identified by the square cutouts in the faces.

Version 2 and Classic can be used together and are interchangeable!

When speed is the primary consideration!

The .6mm profiles use the same models as the .4mm profiles but they do consume more filament. The reason is thicker walls: a .6mm nozzle prints outer and inner walls at .62mm (50% thicker than a .4mm nozzle).

You could change the profile to only print a single wall and that would drop the filament consumption by ~17% (from 360g to 298g on a 3 spool unit) but you would be sacrificing strength. I'm also not sure how ‘fragile’ these would be with a single wall but if anyone tries it feel free to post your results.

  • I recommend printing the units in PETG-HF. PETG has a little bit of flex that makes it easier to insert and remove spools (especially when you have bigger fingers like I do)
  • Conversely, you want to print the connectors and tools in PLA since you want the threads to be stiff. Connectors and tools can be found in a separate print profile labeled “Connectors and Tools” =)
  • Special thanks to @Ulade for inspiring and testing the 4 bay units for me. You rock man!

Make sure to label your spools after your done. These swatches will help you identify your filament and prevent them from rolling out of the units: https://makerworld.com/en/models/785650-filament-swatches-stand-and-clip-for-svfs#profileId-723188
