Description

Space Capsule Glasses Case

Appearance and Design

  • The glasses case resembles a space capsule, with clean lines and triangular decorations that enhance its futuristic, technological feel. The inner edge of the lid features a single angular fold, reminiscent of a mechanical door on a spacecraft.

Functionality and Details

  • The body of the case incorporates chamfered edges, ensuring sufficient internal space while making it portable. When folded, the glasses cloth fits perfectly across the bottom and back panel of the case, providing protective coverage.
  • The dimensions of the glasses case are 156mm x 56mm x 35mm, with an internal space of 150mm x 51mm x 30mm(-2mm -4mm -6mm). It comes with three different thickness options (2mm, 4mm, 6mm) for the top support mesh, accommodating glasses of varying heights. The glasses are held securely between the bottom cloth and the top support mesh, which is soft enough not to damage the lenses.
  • The back of the case is equipped with three compact hinges, providing high durability to withstand varying levels of pressure when packed in a travel bag.

Additional Features

  • For travel or more intense exercise, you can print an elastic protective section with open sides that run through the top and bottom. This section can be printed using standard PLA or PETG materials, providing good elasticity and allowing for quick, efficient printing.

Color Options

  • The decorative lines and triangular elements can be printed in bright colors or glow-in-the-dark filament for added flair.

 

Recommended Materials

  • It is recommended to print the main body of the glasses case with PLA Basic , as PLA Basic has a lower shrinkage rate. Using PETG for the mesh part will provide better elasticity.  Avoid using PLA Silk or PLA Metal, as their insufficient layer adhesion may cause the glasses case to crack.


Version Selection

  • The Standard and XL versions use a single pair of N35 D5×3 mm magnets, which is sufficient for everyday use and provides a comfortable opening force.
  • The Standard Mag Enhanced and XL Mag Enhanced versions use two pairs of magnets, offering better performance for outdoor activities or situations where the case may be dropped.

Update

An XL version of the glasses case print profile has been added, with the internal Long-direction dimensions extended by 15mm, making it suitable for larger-sized glasses.

 

20251012 Update

Optimized the maximum opening angle of the standard and XL versions of the glasses case to prevent the center of gravity from shifting too far backward when opened, thereby improving stability when held in hand.

 

20251115 Update

Adjusted the tolerance of the colored strip’s magnet slot for easier magnet installation.
Slightly increased the thickness of the elastic mesh to improve elasticity and durability.
Both sizes of the eyeglass case now include a magnetic enhanced version, using two pairs of magnets for better performance during outdoor use or accidental drops.

 

20260118 Update

A version with +7 mm increased height (total 42 mm) has been added to the print profiles for both the standard-length glasses case and the standard-length Magnetic Enhanced glasses case, to better fit taller frames.
