Boost Me (for free)

A boost would be very appreciated if you find these pieces useful at your table...

The Problem

Spellcasters are often uncertain what's going to be the exact area of effect of their spells and DMs usually have to quickly be able to determine if a spell does or doesn't affect a certain character: miniatures and a playing mat with squares can help, but mapping a cone onto a grid is not always easy and finding the right page in the manual and double-checking requires time, which interrupt the flow of the combat.

The Solution

These lightweight prints are meant for players and dungeon masters while playing with the common 28mm miniatures on a 1in (or 25.4mm) battle map.

You can find many variations of these accessories, but these represent my attempt at solving a few requirements:

  • no need to move miniatures around to verify the spell area of effect
  • both imperial and metric indicators (yeah lads, Europeans play D&D as well)
  • print with very little material, so to be able to print a set for every spellcaster in the party, possibly in different colours
  • avoid any confusion and debates: stick with the official spell shapes

The printed pieces are quite flexible, even when printed in PLA, and you can slide them from the top without moving miniatures around.

I suggest printing them in vibrant colours, at least an entire set for the DM, possibly a set for each spellcaster in the party: this way they can use them to determine where they want to deploy that fireball for maximum spread.

I didn't include the 3m sphere or the 15m x 1.5m line; I believe those are quite simple to visualize.

I'm thinking: would a version including the 3rd dimension be valuable?
