tldr:

 

  • Best quality: Download the raw STL, slice it yourself (~30 mins), and use the regular base for detailed prints.
  • Faster option: Use the provided 3MF file (lower resolution) with the loose base for quicker setup.

  • top 10% of layers shall be printed with 0.08mm (adaptive layer height)
  • for best quality use the raw stl, and slice it yourself (takes ~30mins, but gives better quality)
    • uploaded print profile has simplified geometry due to slicing time limitation on makerworld

Description

This project involves creating a unique small (15cm / 6" )moon lamp using 3D printed filament as a lithophane to depict the moon. The lamp features a minimalistic disc-shaped base for simplicity and stability, providing an elegant look with a 3W or 5W LED bulb, in either 4000K or 3000K color temperature.

 

No Supports needed!

Materials

  • Lamp Base and Bulb:
    • 3W LED Bulb (4000K or 3000K)
    • Purchase options: Bambu Lab EU Store
  • Filament for Moon:
    • Overture Rock PLA Filament (alternative: PolyTerra PLA Marble White)
  • Filament for Disc Base:
    • eSun eTwinkling Black

Instructions

Slicer Settings for the Moon

  • for best quality use the raw stl, and slice it yourself (takes ~30mins, but gives better quality)
  • No support necessary
  • 0.2mm layer height
  • Variable layer height: Top 2cm and bottom 2cm should be printed with a 0.08mm layer height to avoid holes.
    should be in the 3mf per Default, but double check
  • 7 walls
  • 3 bottom & top layers
  • Wall generator: Arachne
  • Wall transitioning settings:
    • Wall transitioning threshold angle: 45°
    • Minimum feature size: 1%
  • Cooling: 100% cooling

Slicer Settings for the Disc Base

  • 0.2mm layer height
  • 4 walls
  • 4 bottom & top layers
  • 20% infill gyroid
  • No supports
  • 100% cooling

Additional Information

  • The LED should be 59mm x 8mm, with either 3W or 5W output and a color temperature of 4000K or 3000K.
  • Available as the LED Lamp Kit 001 from the Bambu Lab store. This LED is 5V USB-powered and comes with an inline switch.

Notes

  • Safety precautions: Always handle electrical components carefully and follow safety guidelines.
  • Filament functionality: Decorative filament should not interfere with the lamp's function.
