What better way to showcase a beautiful, functional V8 than with a Hot Rod? Well… An even crazier Hot Rod, with a spring-powered mechanism driving the wheels and its V8!!!

Hello everyone, I invite you to print this complete Hot Rod equipped with its functional V8 engine and American-style compressor I designed this model to be accessible to everyone and printable with all 3D printers (04mm nozzle)

If you have already been interested in my other models, this one is a continuation of my previous Hot Rod but with a much more refined finish

I wanted to combine the fun of a spring-powered car with the mechanics of a functional V8 engine The spring mechanism (3D printed spring) drives the rear wheels + the engine (The pistons rise and fall and the radiator fan rotates) The result is incredible!

There are three projects within the same project, allowing you to print just the engine and its support, just the Hot Rod with its spring mechanism, or the combination of both To achieve your desired result, pay attention to the build plates you print The engine parts are grouped on 2 plates, the Hot Rod with its mechanism on 5 plates, and finally you will find on the last 2 plates the hood and accessories to assemble it without the engine as well as a shorter transmission to give it even more torque

THE SPIRAL SPRING: I designed this spring to work with PLA and a long transmission, but if you want more power, you can print it in ABS, ABS-CF, PLA-CF, or even PAHT-CF (it is 30mm wide and 12mm thick, it is already robust)

It is important to carefully read my assembly instructions in detail to choose the options offered to create this V8 Hot Rod with your printer

To assemble this model, it will be necessary to use a few screws and it is strongly recommended to use bearings, here is the parts list, everything is available in your favorite Bambu store:

  • M3 x 10 BHCS AA172 screws Quantity: 25

  • 5 x 8 x 25 mm bearing - MR85ZZ – EA013 - Quantity: 2

  • 8 x 12 x 35 mm bearing – MR128ZZ – EA004– Quantity: 17

Bearings are not mandatory, I suggest replacing them with 3D printed bushings (see printing profile)

If you are only interested in the engine as a decorative object, you can print it with its support You can rotate it manually

I have optimized the number of plates for P1 and X1 printers, +++ NEW PRINTING PROFILE FOR A1 MINI +++ but if you print it on other machines, it will (necessarily) be necessary to move the parts on the plates and/or create new plates I have sized the chassis so that it can fit on small printers such as an A1 mini (180x180x180)

  • If you do not have the possibility to print TPU with your printer, no problem, I have created other parts to be able to print it in PLA, everything is specified directly on each plate in the slicer

  • If you don't want to buy bearings, I've prepared a print profile to replace them You will be able to assemble the model but it will lose a little performance

I offer a printing profile where everything is parameterized so that the printing goes as smoothly as possible, when I have added supports it is because they are necessary, the layer heights can be changed without altering the printing too much (higher layers = faster printing = less good finishes)

Do not hesitate to give me feedback if you have difficulties with my printing profile, I will make the modifications if they bring an improvement

Refer to the assembly instructions to ensure that you assemble everything in the right direction without questioning yourself (there are many pages but the essentials are in the photos) In case of problems, do not hesitate to ask me, I respond within a few days

I hope you will have as much fun assembling this engine to mount it on this Hot Rod as I had designing it

If you like the concept, boost this model to help me create others

Check out my other models, there are simpler and more complex ones

Have fun!
