Wall Art Lupin III - Monkey Punch

Based on the original design downloaded from Thingiverse, which includes wall decorations featuring characters from Monkey Punch. In the original version, the dimensions of the individual pieces were 200 x 200 mm, with a thickness of 2 mm, while the outer edge extended up to 4 mm. The original models included "supports" of 0.4 mm for suspended parts such as eyes, mouth and nose, to be removed once the decoration was fixed to the wall.

Personal modifications to the original design: I removed the protruding edge and standardized the entire print to a thickness of 2 mm. I flipped the pieces during printing to take advantage of the texture of the textured PEI plate, which I love, so as to have a visible surface with an eye-catching texture.

To recreate the effect of the original but retaining the texture of the plate, I created a separate 4 mm high frame, with a 2 mm recess, which is applied over the print. In this way, the final result has a total thickness of 4 mm (picture + frame). It is possible to print the frame in a different color for a more personalized effect.

Printing and application tips: I printed the pieces and fixed them to the wall with thin double-sided tape. After applying the decorations to the wall, I used a wire cutter to remove the supports of the suspended parts. To ensure better adhesion of the frame, I recommend applying it while it is still hot and letting it cool directly on the picture. It is ideal to use a flat weight (for example, a glass scale) to ensure that the frame cools down while maintaining the correct shape. If the frame is applied once cold, it can be slightly heated with a hairdryer to facilitate the interlocking.
