Description
Barrett M82A1

The M82A1 is primarily used in the armed forces of Western countries, including the US military special forces.
The US military nicknamed it "Light Fifty" (Light Fifty) because it uses the Browning M2 heavy machine gun's large caliber 12.7×99 NATO (.50 BMG, 12.7 mm) ammunition. There are two derivatives of this gun - the original M82A1 (A3) and the M82A2, which is designed with a bullpup configuration for portability. The subsequent XM500 also inherits its design spirit, using a bullpup configuration, with its long range, high accuracy, and powerful performance, it has almost dominated the 12.7 mm sniper rifle market. This gun has been equipped by military and police forces in dozens of countries.

Ronnie Barrett was originally an American Tennessee commercial photographer and a gun enthusiast who had never received any firearms design training. In January 1981, a hunting trip, where he always missed his shots, prompted Barrett to design a large-caliber semi-automatic sniper rifle. So, from design to manufacturing, it took him less than a year to create a prototype. Then Barrett created his own company, and in 1982, he began trial production, and the M82A1 large-caliber semi-automatic sniper rifle was officially "born".
