Respooler Motor Drive
Print Profile(1)

Description
Tired of manually respooling rolls of filament then your solution is here. Here is a motor drive add-on for the Respooler (with a difference). This motor drive attaches to the lower gear and propels the respooler machine.
The motor drive uses an electric motor, powered by an external 9-12V DC (>500mA) DC plug pack. The speed of the motor drive is controlled by a rotary dial, eliminating the need to manually turn the respooler winding arm.
Skill Level Required
The following skills are required to successfully complete this project:
- Ability to solder and unsolder components on a PCB.
- Perform low voltage wiring of a switch and potentiometer.
- Have the rudimentary basics of electrical power.
- Ability to source required electrical components listed in the Build Guide.
- Independently follow Build Guide instructions.
Other Respooler Machines (warning)
This motor drive is specifically designed to operate with the respooler by Maker World “Wiseone”. It’s unclear whether the motor drive can be used with other respoolers. The Wiseone respooler makes extensive use of ball bearing joints, reducing friction. Other machines without ball bearings on the spool spindle have extra turn resistance, perhaps enough to prevent the motor drive to satisfactorily operate.
