Anti-Japanese War Dao
Print Profile(1)

Description
In remembrance of revolutionary martyrs, this model recreates a Dao, a type of Chinese sword used by the Chinese military during the Anti-Japanese War. The model is approximately 26cm long (the actual Dao is approximately 90cm long). The details are perfectly reproduced. The blade has been slightly thickened for added durability. It comes with a wooden stand for upright display, or you can rest it on the stand with the blade pointing upwards.
The Dao used by the Chinese army in the early stages of the Anti-Japanese War was a typical machete-style weapon. The Daos used by the Nationalist 29th Army around the July 7th Incident were largely produced in factories in Beiping, resulting in a relatively uniform and standardized design with higher quality; hence, these are the most representative.
The Japanese called it the "Qinglong Dao" (Green Dragon Dao). Images exist of Japanese soldiers posing with captured Chinese Daos, demonstrating their recognition of the weapon's significance. Before the July 7th Incident, in anticipation of escalating tensions in North China, the Chinese 29th Army initiated targeted training. One distinctive characteristic of this well-trained and courageous army was that every soldier carried both a rifle and a Dao. Chinese army rifles had much shorter bayonets than the Japanese Arisaka Type 38 rifles, rendering the bayonets ineffective in close-quarters combat, whereas the Dao proved highly effective. During the Battle of the Great Wall, the 29th Army's Dao units struck fear into the hearts of the Japanese soldiers, earning them a place in history.
