The sharp rim of the mounting collar gets squeezed between the knob and handle cap, creating maximum grip and leverage on the widest part of the knob. Ribbed mounting collar gives a firm grip to make screwing the handle cap on easier. Works best on the kind of knob depicted in photos. Doorknob is 55.6mm in diameter, scale accordingly.
