Description

Description

Fine focuser add-on for standard Celestron rack and pinion focuser

Provides 4:1 reduction for fine control on the focuser

Easily reversible, no permanent changes, take it off if you dont like it

Takes up one side, leaving the other side knob as is for coarse control

Thoroughly tested

Why I made this

We got a new telescope (Celestron with a standard 1.25" rack and pinion focuser) and the focuser was super jumpy.

I first removed the insane gummy grease in the rack and pinion and put some decent grease. Was still unhappy, looked at getting a 10:1 focuser, but that would be more than 50% of the cost of the telescope

This is a retrofit, which doesnt even need additional screws

Parts and Assembly

  1. Drive Gear - snap on to the knob on one side of the existing focuser
  2. Hub - remove the two screws holding down the current focuser gear and reinsert through the holes in the hub
  3. Pinion Gear - Through the hub and mesh with the drive gear
  4. Turn Knob - Attach it to the free end of the pinion gear

Printing

Basic PLA, 20% infill, no supports, super quick
