Hello,
for those that don't know my ‘insert philosophy’ - I am creating modular inserts that are focused on reducing setup and space on table, filament consumption is not my highest priority, but of course I'm trying to save some material where I can.
Update 02.02.2026 - version 1.1 and 2.0:
- description updated, it reflects now 2.0 version, I recommend to read it all,
- version 1.1 - for those that printed version 1.0 and want to print only neccessary components, reducing the number of reprints, if you didn't print 1.0 or want full 2.0 version - omit this section:
- I have not printed this version (and I don't plan to), so there might be some issues, but I think everything should fit fine,
- all needed files (only files needed for upgrade) are in Version 1.1 folder
- what needs to be reprinted:
- Minis_Holder_2
- Other_Holder
- Minis_Holder_Elementals_Corrupted_Crystal
- Tiles_Tower_2_Other_Holder
- Tokens_Holder_2
- what you will need from 1.0:
- map tiles dividers,
- scenario tiles dividers,
- one scenario tiles divider scaled to around 4cm,
- what you will need from 2.0:
- card dividers,
- what you can print from 2.0 instead:
- Combat_Components_Holder - to have one big holder instead of 2 smaller ones
- Tokens_Holder - to have better tokens storage, but then you would need to print Miniatures_Holder_3 from 2.0,
- Elementals_Holder - to have them all in one place and easier access to them, but then I think you would need to print also towers from scratch,
- Cards_Holder_Quest - to have a bit better quests storage, you will probably need to reprint Combat_Components_Holder, as I'm not sure if silver and gold cards will fit anywhere else,
- version 2.0:
- added character holders for Ysira and Arlan, Hassian, Zaphyrii,
- updated map tiles holder - it's a bit higher, it has less holes as it was hard to put in tiles, dividers are also updated,
- updated other holders - old one didn't fit because of Arlan,
- replaced tokens holders - there is one big one right one, all tokens have separate space, it's easier to find the ones that we're looking for, scenario square tiles are also stored there. It has shelf for tokens that most likely will be used, other scenario specific are in the main compartment. There is also a finger hole for easier access,
- updated scenario tiles holder - there is no need for any filler right now, it's also easier to take it out without worrying about cover detaching itself,
- updated combat holder - it stores new dices and also silver and gold cards,
- updated tiles towers - now there are 2 or more like 2.5, some of them are double sided (one side for base game and FP & CS, other side for Cruel Frost, for example market tiles). Thanks to this they are also sturdier,
- replaced elemental holders - there is right now one big holder with shelf for storing all elementals. There is also finger hole for easier access,
- replaced minis holder 2 - to support minis from Cruel Frost,
- added minis holder 3 - for minis from Cruel Frost and also buildings,
- replaced one cards holder - added one for quests and standees, as there was too much space in the holders and I wanted to add some solution for saving table space.
Important Notes:
- My main priority here was to fit as much as I can into the core box and FP / CF box, minimizing space needed in box and on the table. Second priority was to speed up setup and teardown. Last but not least - I wanted save as much filament as possible, but functionality had higher priority than filament usage,
- It may not be a final version, but very close to final one, more info at the bottom,
- Clearence for holder covers is very small - 0.2mm horizontal. Please print the smallest holder and cover for it to check if it fits, if not you may need to calibrate printer or enlarge cover a bit (adding 0.2-0.4mm to the width in the slicer should be enough),
- This is for 2nd version of the game, from SFG. I think it will work with the 1st version, but there will be a lot space left in core box or you could use boxes from expansions.
Supports:
- vertical storage - if you want to fully secure minis you can print covers, but if you don't plan to shake the boxes a lot I don't think they will suffer any damage,
- Fierce Powers expansion,
- Dual-Layered Player Boards,
- Necromancer,
- Cruel Frost,
- additional dices - there is a little space for additional dices for combat in combat holder,
- sleeves 70 micron - this is mainly designed for 70 microns sleeves (I use Sloyca), there is a chance that 100 microns will fit if you print Cards Holder instead of Cards Holder Quests, but I'm not 100% sure.
This insert features:
- character holders - 11 smaller holders (a bit different one for characters from CF) and 1 bigger (for Eltrea) for all character related components - cards, mini, dices, tokens, ability tiles. Each component (except for Golem token, which is stored with shields along with 2 cubes that I bought for each character for health tracking, half of market tokens + one Ysira related token in Ysira holder need to be stored also along with shields) has separate space. Holder for Eltrea also holds her minions. I didn't include space for damage tokens - I needed to save space, so I moved them to combat holder and tokens holder,
- tile towers - there are 2 towers for the tiles, one of them separates into 2 towers. Double sided towers are for tiles that are not used together (like market tiles from base game and market tiles from Cruel Frost). Tiles can be taken out from the bottom, put away on the top, and if you need to reshufle or place a lot of tiles at once - you can dismantle tower for easier access. What I recommend with discarded tiles is to place them top side up, that way you will now when you need to reshufle,
- combat holder - there are compartments for 3 Dwurt dices, 3 resolve dices, 1 Shii dice, silver and gold cards (I also store Shii card and resolve card along with them), gem dice, combat dice, Gaar tokens, Chaos and Dwurt, 4 colors of damage tokens (in one compartment), scoring tokens, global effect and monster health and monster injury tokens (in one compartment). There is also space for inserting 2-3 cards vertically (for Shii, resolve, monster card) during the game. Unfortunately I was able to only provide space for 4 colors of the damage tokens, but I don't think that more is needed - there are only few scenarios where players are fighting in the same time. In two tokens compartments there is enough space for 2 D20 dices (max size 3cm) (for tracking monster health / damage instead of the tokens) and 2 D6 dices (so there is no need take dices from another character),
- cards holders - 3 large cards holders. Two for combat related cards and scenario related cards, one for quests and standees,
- elemental holder - on a shelf there is space for minis from FP & CS and CF, in the main compartment elementals from the base game and tokens,
- scenario tiles holder - for medium hexagon tiles needed in some scenarios,
- tokens holder - in main compartment there are square scenario tiles stored, scenario tokens and all other damage tokens,
- other holder - you can use it how you want, I store there all cardboard monsters, although they're pretty cramped and there is not enough space for elementals,
- gems and coins holder - separate compartment for each coin value, one big for gems - there was not enough space to provide separate compartments for each gem type, but I tested it and because the compartment is big enough - it is quite easy to find the gem we are looking for,
- minis holders - 3 holders for minis. Only 2 minis are loose, but it is secured by other minis - Farruga and the one with cape.
Requirements:
- around 3937g (depends on your settings, I printed with 12% gyroid infill, 2 walls, 4 top and 3 bottom layers, 0.42 line width, also depends on how many dividers you will print, this value is for 17 map dividers, 53 card dividers, 4 scenario tiles dividers) with all optionals, 3787g without minis covers and card standees,
- at least 221mm x 212mm print bed.
Instructions:
Supports - no supports required.
- every file ended with xX (for example x16) - print X times (in given example - 16 times),
- every file ended with xXY - cards, tiles dividers - print how many you like, I printed 17 map dividers, 53 card dividers, 4 scenario tiles dividers,
- every file ended with _OPTIONAL - like name suggest, it's optional,
- refer to pictures how to organize minis and the box.
First box - around 3-4mm lid lift:
- all character dual layered boards stored vertically on the side,
- 1st, bottom layer - 3 character holders (one is Arlan) and other holder in first column, 2 character holders + eltrea in second column,
- 2nd layer - 2 character holder, map tiles holder, tokens holder,
- 2.5 layer - scenario tiles holder in the middle of map tiles holder,
- 3rd layer - 4 character holders on top of the ones from second layer, next to map tiles, gems and coins on top of map tiles, combat holder on top of tokens holder and map tiles,
- fourth layer - all instructions.
Second box:
- 1st, bottom layer - 2 tile towers in one corner, card holder next to them along the longer box side, next to towers - elementals holder and next to cards and elementals - minis holder 1,
- 2nd layer - card holder on top of card holder from 1st layer, minis holder on top of minis holder from 1st layer,
- 3rd layer - card holder on top of card holder from 1st layer, minis holder on top of minis holder from 1st layer
What future holds:
- There are 3 more things that I would like to improve:
- add slots for cardboard monsters in the minis compartment - this hopefully would help in finding the place for miniatures during / after the game, not sure though if I manage to find space for them,
- better encounters (quests) and maybe monster cards storage - I tried implementing tower, but I didn't have enough space for it. I think there is a clever solution for that, unfortunately I can't find it right now,
- better characters storage - I don't like how tokens are stored, I would also like to move dwurt dices to characters that are using them. For this I would need to have more space, so "other holder" would need to dissapear.
Enjoy!
