Description

Around December of 2024, Bambu began to ship standard hex wrenches without the ‘fancy’ molded handles like those that came with earlier machines.

I created a quick model in Tinkercad and paused the print half way through, popped in the key, finished the print and voila! a fancy molded handle similar to the OG wrenches.

*** IMPORTANT NOTE ON PROFILES WITH BOTH WRENCHES ON ONE PLATE ***

As a request, I created profiles that prints both wrenches onto a single plate.

If you use these "on One Plate” profiles, THERE WILL BE TWO PAUSES.

  • On the FIRST PAUSE, place the SMALL WRENCH
  • Resume Print
  • On the SECOND PAUSE, place the LARGE WRENCH
  • Resume print
  • Make sure your key is pretty close to a right angle. Hold it along a square table edge to check. Some minor tweaking with a pair of pliers might be necessary
  • Slice desired plate (2mm  is the larger key, 1.5mm is the smaller.
  • Begin print
  • My profile has the pauses built in. When the printer pauses, snap the key into the two parts of the half finished print, both the handle and the block for the long end of the handle. Give the key a good press at the handle and the block; it should snap into place and should be mostly below the surface of the print both at the handle and the holding block
  • Continue print

There are two styles:

Simple Style: This is the original I created. It is a simple smooth handle and the one I prefer.

Bambu Style: I created a profile as a request from @user_3887032648. These handles more closely match the OG wrenches. These should fit the toolkits more closely than my simpler original style. The “Bambu Lab” text does not come out super clean unless you use a .2mm nozzle, but even with an .4 nozzle, it creates a textured grip and serves as an homage to the original wrenches this model is based on.

Print the one you like best :)

NEWER ROUND BODIED WRENCHES

Update Nov 18, 2025:  I was going to update the model with a profile that works with the newer round bodied wrenches, BUT user_1129989884 already uploaded a profile for that purpose. If you have the newer handles that shipped with the 2 series printers (H2D, H2S, H2C, P2S), use that profile and send a thanks to them!
