Beer tap handle with magnet sled face plates

This is a beer tap handle I designed for my home kegerator. I have two models in here, one is the homebrew version, where the neck at the base matches the thickness of a nuketap faucet very closely, and has just two rectangular magnet slots to hold in the faceplate. I have not had a problem with this one for home use.

I also made a stronger, commercial tap, which has a thicker base, and 5 circular magnets to hold in the face plate. In a commercial setting, my original design was not sufficient and needed a small screw to hold the mag sled in place over frantic use.

Both tap handles have a modifier on the last 1" or so to print solid, this is to try and ensure there is plenty of strength at the base and it won't break there at the point of max stress and least cross-section. I put the ruthex heat inserts in with a soldering iron, didnt need a special tip, just push it in until flush.

Once you have the tap printed, you can interchange sleds. Typically what I will do is print a sled, then make a Hueforge or other picture/model to go on top of the sled, applied with super glue. Of course you need to be very careful with the magnet orientation to make sure everything is set up correctly. I check about 5 times before I am sure.

For both the tap and the sleds, find the last layer before the hole for the magnet gets covered up, and add a pause. Insert the magnets into the print (oriented correctly!), and resume. Easy enough.

Circular magnets are 10mmx3mm, rectangular magnets are 20x5x2. Heated inserts are ruthex 3/8-16 x12.7.
