*UPDATE*
I've decided to add a test print to help find the correct size of inserts for your cube. I HIGHLY recommend printing the Large Cube Insert Test Print after you print the cube, and before you print the inserts. I hope this helps everyone who has struggled to sand/tune their inserts. There are 6 small test pieces with a small handle and their X-Y scale on the bottom. Once you print your cube, I recommend placing some tape over one of the holes to act as the second insert and get the proper seal. Then, try the various insert sizes, making sure to not force any of them into the opening, and find the size that fits in the opening easily, but doesn't just drop in immediately. Once you find the proper fit, load the full size inserts into Bambu Studio, highlight them and press the scale icon. Then, make sure you uncheck the “Uniform Scale” option before typing in the percentage that fit your cube into the X and Y boxes only (not the Z). I still recommend sanding or scraping down the seam slightly, then insert the full size parts, making sure you don't force them at all. Please let me know how this works out for your in the comments and ask any questions you have about this process. I hope this helps!!!
*UPDATE*
This air pressure pop-up cube is the ultimate fidget for all ages. It relies on a tight fit between the 2 oval pieces and the cube which allows them to function like a pneumatic cylinder that pushes the air from one oval to the other. You can either watch the pieces satisfyingly sink down, or push down on one and watch the other side jump up!!! This is a great fidget for your desk to relieve stress and mesmerize anyone who picks it up. I was inspired by the Metmo Cube which is a wire edm machined block of steel. It's a very cool product, but at $300 a piece, I just couldn't justify purchasing one. This version is closer to $3.00 so it's accessible to anyone! It functions using a small air passage at the bottom that connects the two chambers and allows air to flow between them, giving the appearance that the pieces are connected. The print profile has a 15% gyroid infill for the cube at a fine layer height, and 50% gyroid infill for the inserts to give them some added weight. I recommend giving the seams on the oval pieces a light sanding to perfect the fit before inserting them completely into the block. Depending on the filament you used and printer, you may find it easier to scale the inserts down in the X and Y directions by a small amount. Thank you for the support!!!
After a couple of requests, I decided to add a smaller cube as well. It measures 1.5" inches overall and prints in under 2 hours on an X1 Carbon. This model will require the same sanding of the seams as the full size to get the best fit possible. Due to the tiny differences between printers, I recommend getting some fine grit sandpaper so you can fine tune the parts. If you're expecting to just print and put together, this might not be the model for you. It really didn't take much to get mine working great, I just want to make sure this is understood before you commit to printing. Thanks again!!!
