Say goodbye to bulky, inconvenient travel chess sets! I’ve reimagined the foldable chessboard to be compact, practical, and fun to use—without sacrificing style or functionality. After much trial and error, Version 1 of my design laid the foundation for the Version 2 Series, with significant improvements in durability, functionality, and style. Now, Version 2.5 takes it to the next level with even more thoughtful upgrades!
Key Improvements:
🛠️ From Version 1 to Version 2:
- Hinged Design: A durable filament-based hinge makes the board strong, lightweight, and easy to assemble.
- Magnetized Option: Pre-designed slots for inserting 4x2mm magnets during printing ensure stability for on-the-go play.
- 3D Chess Pieces: Upgraded from flat pieces to full 3D designs for a classic and visually stunning feel.
🛠️ From Version 2 to Version 2.5:
- Cap Locking Mechanism: Replacing friction-fit caps with a simple locking system makes the design far more durable.
- Deeper Magnet Placement: Magnets are now seated deeper in the board for a cleaner, more professional look.
Assembly Instructions:
The assembly process is straightforward, just like Version 2! (wach gif below) Make sure all the pieces are in the correct place, so the tabs on the caps align properly. The models are arranged on the print plate in the correct order for assembly. If the parts are removed from the plate, refer to the included reference image for guidance.
