Silica Gel Box for Ikea Samla 45L & 22L (12 & 6 Gallon)

Update: Improved version of the rack Trådförvarare available!

There are now four separate print plates with preset infill patterns available: 35 %, 40 %, 45 %, and 50 % infill – identical to the values from the test print. This eliminates manual adjustment in the slicer: You can now simply select the appropriate plate according to the grain size of your silica gel and print directly.

Additionally, the lid has been equipped with a locking mechanism. Many thanks to “naubot” for the idea.

Description of the 3D model: Silica Box for IKEA Samla Drybox

This Silica Box was inspired by the Trådförvarare rack by jr2142 and designed specifically for it. It consists of two symmetrical halves – please print the plate twice to get a complete box.

Function and Application:

The silica gel beads are conveniently filled in via a sliding bottom. The two halves are then joined together using a dovetail joint – this connection is intentionally tight to ensure a secure fit.

The finished box is then inserted between the spool holders of the IKEA Samla rack and snaps precisely into place. This ensures the silica gel is securely fixed, stays in place, and can be easily removed for regeneration if needed.

Variants:

• With snap-in function: For use with the Trådförvarare rack, including 10 mm high feet.
• Without snap-in function: With only 5 mm high feet – suitable for other spool holders or boxes with similar dimensions to the IKEA Samla 45L & 22L boxes.

Additionally included:

A test print model for mesh size has been included. This allows you to check before the full print whether your own silica gel falls through the grid at a 35 % infill density. If necessary, a variant with a higher infill density can be chosen – without any changes in the slicer.

Compatibility:

• The box with snap-in function was specially developed for the Trådförvarare rack and fits precisely between the spool holders – including a snap-in function for secure hold.
• According to user feedback, the box is also compatible with the "Drybox Spool Holder IKEA Samla 45L for 10 Spools" rack by N405.
• The box without snap-in function fits in all boxes that have similar dimensions to the Ikea Samla 45L & 22L boxes.
